Borough of Poole is a high-performing unitary authority, situated on the beautiful Dorset coast.

Although a relatively small Council, we provide the full range of local public services, including education; housing; social care; environmental, leisure and cultural services; highways & transportation; planning, etc.

Our website – www.boroughofpoole.com – plays a key role for both our officers and customers in informing and supporting the delivery of these very varied services.

From its infancy as a basic information-only site 10 years ago, the site has now grown to become both a key communications and service delivery channel with an expected 1 million unique site visitors and around 100,000 self-service transactions this year.

Despite being consistently rated one of the best sites in the country, we decided to completely redesign it last summer, which has significantly improved the ‘look and feel’, functionality, content and accessibility.

However, there’s still much more to do over the next few years and we’re looking for a special individual to lead this work, working within our Corporate Communications team.

Being part of a close knit team, you will be working with limited budgets but will have the support of our extended network of authors. You can expect lots of variety and a huge sense of achievement in this challenging role.

If you think you’ve got the passion, creativity and technical skills to help shape our future strategy and make www.boroughofpoole.com and our intranet even more popular and successful, then please call Chris Owens on 01202 633487 or email chris.owens@poole.gov.uk

Closing date: 10th July 2008
Interview Date: 22nd or 23rd July 2008
